Overview of Intestinal Organoid Model

Intestinal organoids are three-dimensional (3D) cellular structures derived from human intestinal cells. Unlike traditional two dimensional cell line cultures, intestinal organoids offer a multicellular architecture that more faithfully reflects the structure and cellular interactions of the human small intestine.

Unlock Insights into IBD Research | Specialized Experimental Model Solutions

Our Intestinal Organoid Model is a state-of-the-art 3D in vitro platform derived from human intestinal cells, closely mimicking the structure, cellular composition, and functional behavior of native intestinal tissue. This downloadable brochure provides a comprehensive overview of how intestinal organoids can be leveraged to accelerate target discovery, drug screening, and efficacy evaluation in preclinical IBD research.

Model Overview

Intestinal organoids are three-dimensional multicellular structures that self-organize into architectures resembling the human intestine. They contain the majority of intestinal epithelial cell (IEC) types and, upon maturation, exhibit key physiological functions such as absorption, secretion, mucus production, and epithelial polarization.

Compared with conventional 2D intestinal cell lines, intestinal organoids offer a multicellular, lumen-containing architecture that more faithfully reflects epithelial organization, cell–cell interactions, and barrier function of the human gut—making them a powerful tool for IBD modeling and translational research

Key Model Advantages

The brochure highlights several features that distinguish our intestinal organoid platform:

  • Human-derived and genetically relevant: Established from human intestinal cells, preserving patient-relevant genetic and physiological characteristics.
  • Physiologically representative architecture: Polarized epithelial layers, crypt-like domains, correct cell-type proportions, and a functional lumen.
  • Stable and scalable culture system: Short culture cycles, long-term cryopreservation, and consistent phenotypic and genetic stability.
  • Adaptability to complex microenvironments: Compatible with co-culture systems, inflammatory stimuli, and diverse experimental conditions.

Readouts and Assays

Our intestinal organoid platform supports a broad panel of analytical endpoints, including:

  • Viability and proliferation assays
  • Barrier function and permeability analysis
  • Inflammatory cytokine profiling
  • Gene and protein expression analysis
  • Morphological and structural assessment
